Music Venue- Introduction & Preproduction

This music venue is a two-man group project including myself and Deirdre. The idea was to create a small outdoor music venue that would be a little different from regular music venues out there. A musician called Asaf Avidan did a session at what seemed like an abandoned house and I really liked the look of it so that was my initial insipiration.

There is an open air music venue in Estonia, Tallinn that is literally just ruins of an old monastery. I have been to few concerts there myself. So that monastery was the second and main inspiration for the environment.

Using Miro, we put together a plan and wrote down ideas and to-do lists.

We searched churches and monasteries in ruins and having taken that music venue in Tallinn and the Monastery in Glendalogh as inspiration I created sketches for the environment. While it is based on, it is not the same as the venue in Tallinn.

For the scene we chose a small setting of a one-man show. The scene contains a guitar, an amplifier, a microphone, a stool for the singer to sit on and speakers.

We created a moodboard and color palette for the music venue. The colors are natural and earthy and the overall look is a bit raggedy and worn out. The style follows a retro-kind of style that fits together with the location of the music venue.

The assets created by ourselves – guitar, amp, mic and stool, work as hero assets. The main hero assets are the amp and the guitar. The guitar has a light brown color and the amp a blue color to stand out from the overall darker and natural environment. I created a sketch for my desired mic and amp.

For the modular assets we downloaded plants and trees to add into the scene from PolyHaven. Due to lack of time and the scope of the project, we also found a free to use stage light models that we used in the scene.
