I feel relatively confident in modelling and texturing, having previous experience in it. However, I did follow the table top scene we were working in class for practice purposes. For the candle I used Sculpting tool and then decreased the poly count by deleting unnecessary edge loops.

and added in an extra asset – an inkpot.

For the chair’s back I chose the more complicated reference to put myself to test. I modelled half the chair and then mirrored the other half.

Most of my modelling is done by using edge loops and soft selection. I did try the lattice with the book but find the soft selection more comfortable. For the paper I used the bend deformer.

Previously I have done all my texturing in Substance Painter or Photoshop so this time I tried out the Maya default materials and were happy to find that there are some great options there.
